Frank Stietz succeeds Jan Rinnert as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of the Heraeus Group.

Hanau, 23rd May, 2025 – Heraeus announced today that Dr. Frank Stietz is to be appointed as the new CEO and Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors. Jan Rinnert, the current Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors, will hand over the reins to his successor Frank Stietz after 20 years at the company, of which he has spent around 15 years as a member of the Board of Managing Directors and twelve years as its Chairman. Frank Stietz joined the Group in 2015 and has been a member of the Board of Managing Directors in the role of Chief Operating Officer for the past five years. In addition to this operational remit, Frank Stietz, who holds a doctorate in physics, has devoted particular attention to the innovations and the technological development of the Heraeus Group’s Operating Companies.

“After some 20 years at Heraeus and with my current term of appointment coming to an end, I believe it is the right time for a change at the helm of the company. I am grateful to have played a part in the company’s development over all these years and would like to wish Frank a good start and every success as he takes on this new role,” said Jan Rinnert, who will maintain close ties with the company as a member of the Heraeus family and as a shareholder. “I am delighted that in Frank Stietz we have been able to appoint a new Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors from within our own ranks,” Jan Rinnert added.

The Chairman of the Shareholders’ Committee, Dr. Hans-Tjabert Conring, thanked Jan Rinnert for his services to the company in the past two decades on behalf of the governing bodies and the Heraeus family. “During the years that he has spent in this role, Jan Rinnert has made a substantial contribution to our company’s success and helped Heraeus to advance as a global technology group,” explained Hans-Tjabert Conring. Franz Haniel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, added: “The significant investments in research and development, the sharpening of the Group's profile and the expansion of production capacities in Germany and abroad were milestones in the further development of the company.”

Frank Stietz joined Heraeus as President of Heraeus Electronics in 2015. He moved to the Group Management Committee of the Heraeus Group in 2018 and was appointed to the Board of Managing Directors of Heraeus Holding in March 2020. Prior to joining Heraeus, Stietz gathered extensive management experience at Carl Zeiss AG, where he headed the Corporate Research and Technology unit and the electron microscopy business and was also a member of the Management Board of the Microscopy business unit. Frank Stietz obtained a doctorate in experimental physics at the University of Kassel and holds an MBA from the Universities of Augsburg and Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania).

“Frank Stietz is very familiar with the company, has many years of international experience in managerial and executive roles, is highly regarded by his colleagues on the Board of Managing Directors and by employees, and has earned a very good reputation in the industries in which Heraeus operates,” said Chairman of the Supervisory Board Franz Haniel. “He has our full trust and confidence and will therefore ensure that the family and management team will continue to work closely together. On behalf of all the governing bodies and employees of Heraeus, I wish him all the best and every success for the future,” added Hans-Tjabert Conring.

“I would like to say thank you for the trust shown in appointing me. I am looking forward to shaping Heraeus’s future alongside our global team,” said Frank Stietz.
